nothing at all
The headlineWeeks 1–11 are essentially complete. Weeks 12–13 do not exist.
Every pre-lecture recording, lecture deck, PBL scenario and PBL sample solution the syllabus assigns for Weeks 1 through 11 is present, with the four exceptions below. Then the archive stops. The folder named “Weekw 12-13” contains a single screenshot of the syllabus timetable and nothing else, which is roughly 15% of the course, including all of IAS 36 impairment and the cash flow capstone.
Week 12: Impairment of long-term assetsmissing
No checklist, no pre-lecture recordings (“Impairment – What and When to Test”, “The Impairment Test”), no lecture deck, no PBL scenario, no solution. IAS 36 appears nowhere in 264 files.
Week 13: Cash flow capstonemissing
No checklist, no recorded lecture video, no capstone examples, no PBL scenario or solution. The Week 9 PP&E cash-flow material is the closest substitute you already own.
Week 11: PBL casemissing
Weeks 1–10 each have a scenario and a sample solution. The series stops dead at Week 10 Landmark. Verified across the whole tree: Week 11 is the only week in 1–11 with no case to practise on.
Week 10: Investment property deckpartial
The “Introduction to Investment Property” slide deck is absent, but its 15-minute recording is present as video and the Week 10 lecture deck covers the topic. A soft gap, not a hole.
Coverage matrixWhat exists for each week
Nine material types, checked week by week. “n/a” means the course did not assign that type that week, not that something is missing. “partial” in the pre-lecture slide-deck column means the recording is present but no separate slide deck was saved; standalone “Without Recording” decks only appear from Week 6 onward, so I cannot confirm the course issued them for Weeks 1–5.

Study pathThe whole course, in order, from the beginning
Follow the course’s own week sequence rather than the textbook’s chapter order: AFM 291 deliberately teaches Ch. 4 (revenue) before Ch. 3 (subsequent events), and splits Chapters 7, 9 and 10 across several weeks. Note that Chapter 1 is not assigned in this course; the syllabus begins at Chapter 2. Every week follows the same rhythm: set the scope, watch the pre-lecture recordings, work the lecture deck, attempt the PBL case cold, then mark yourself against the sample solution.

Learn the four-step process here or nothing later lands: Identify the Issue(s) → Guidance to be Applied → Connect to Case Facts → Conclude & Recommend. Every PBL solution and every midterm answer is structured and graded on exactly this.

Barnett Corp. is the anchor: $20,000 down + 4 × $40,000 at 9% → PV $129,588.80, revenue $149,588.80, interest income $30,411.20, plus the ASPE straight-line alternative at $7,602.80/yr.

The distinction that recurs all term: an assurance warranty is not a separate performance obligation (it is an IAS 37 provision); a service-type extended warranty is. Momentum Fitness tests both in one contract.
4Week 4 · Ch. 4: Long-term and onerous contracts

Do both Kennedy workbooks before the lecture, the deck assumes them. They are not duplicates: one is the profitable contract, the other the onerous variant carrying a $697,122.30 provision.

Adjusting vs non-adjusting is the most-tested distinction of the first half. Note the syllabus lists contingencies here, but they are actually taught in the Week 4 deck.
Gap to work around: IAS 10, IAS 8, ASPE 3820 and 1506 assigned but not saved. No self-made study set.

Retail Inventory Pricing Method is explicitly not examinable. The trap is fixed overhead at normal capacity: below normal volume the rate does not rise (the idle portion is expensed); above normal volume the rate must fall.
Gap to work around: No PBL facilitation deck. Chapter 5 material sits in the Week 7 folder.
7Week 7 · Ch. 5 & 7, Financial assets, equity investments and receivables

Three investments, three different answers: 23.5% plus a material supplier relationship → equity method; 0.085% with the irrevocable OCI election → FVOCI with costs capitalised; 0.25% held for trading → FVPL with costs expensed. Traps: total dividend × % vs per-share × shares, and measuring the fair-value adjustment against carrying amount, not price change.
Gap to work around: Ch. 7 §E (debt amortization) is assigned this week but no official file covers it, pull it from chapter_7_financial_assets_notes.md.

Robson/Hydro One is the anchor: $100,000 face, 4% per-period coupon, 5% market → priced $92,278.27, discount $7,721.73, lifetime interest income $47,721.73. Then run the same bond as FVOCI, then the recycling entry on sale. Recycling is never tested by the PBL, drill it separately from Drill 4.
Gap to work around: No file anywhere contains an impairment journal entry or an ECL computation.
9Week 9 · Ch. 8: Property, plant and equipment
- Checklist
- PP&E Core Study Document - V4.docx
- AFM 291 Spring 2026 Week 9 Lecture LEARN Updated.pdf

- Quick Reference - V4.pdf
The best-resourced week in the folder. AceSpin runs deferred-payment PV at 5%, a $3M specific borrowing net of investment income, component depreciation on a 20% roof, and the IAS 23 cut-off: $173,333 capitalized and $114,167 expensed of $287,500 total interest.
10Week 10 · Ch. 9 & 10: Revaluation, investment property, government grants
- Checklist
- Introduction to Revaluations Without Recording.pptx
- Revaluation Non-depreciables.xlsx, then Revaluation Depreciables.xlsx, run both the elimination and proportional sheets
- AFM 291 Spring 2026 Week 10 Lecture LEARN.pptx in full
- Introduction to Government Grants Without Recording.pptx
- AFM 291 S26 Week 10 PBL Landmark.pdf, cold; its Appendix A substitutes for the missing IAS 40 deck
- Sample Solution
Elimination is the method the lecture and PBL use; the workbook exists to prove proportional restatement reaches the same carrying amount, income and equity. Increase → OCI unless it reverses a prior P&L decrease; decrease → P&L unless a surplus exists.
Gap to work around: Investment Property slide deck missing (the recording is present). Ch. 10 §B Impairment covered by nothing.
11Week 11 · Ch. 9: Intangibles and goodwill
- Checklist
- Intangibles Part 1 Without Recording.pptx
- Part 2
- Part 3, open in slideshow mode with audio: despite the filename it holds 12.8 min of embedded narration
- AFM 291 Spring 2026 Week 11 Lecture LEARN.pptx, the Weeks 11 copy
The lecture’s answer tables are blank; they were completed live. Only two examples come pre-solved, the ASPE customer list ($180,000 ÷ 3 = $60,000 amortization) and P9-29 Dudas/Sand goodwill ($6,917,000 − $4,465,000 = $2,452,000). Use those as your worked anchors.
Gap to work around: PBL scenario, facilitation deck and sample solution all missing.
12Week 12 · Ch. 10, Impairment of long-term assets, IAS 36
- Nothing exists in the folder.
- Source externally: Lo & Fisher Ch. 10 impairment sections, and IAS 36 from the CPA Canada Handbook via Knotia (still reachable through the UW library).
What you need to cover: recoverable amount = the higher of fair value less costs of disposal and value in use; identifying cash-generating units and allocating goodwill to them; the write-down order (goodwill first, then pro rata); and the reversal rules, permitted for other assets, prohibited for goodwill.
Gap to work around: Missing: checklist, both pre-lecture recordings, the lecture deck, the PBL scenario and its sample solution.
13Week 13 · Cash Flow Appendix: Cash flow capstone
- Nothing exists in the folder.
- Closest substitutes already in your archive: Cash Flow Statement PP&E.xlsx (Week 9), PP&E Cash Flow Without Recording.pdf (Week 9), and the cash-flow sections of the Week 7 and Week 8 decks and PBL solutions.
Those substitutes cover PP&E and financial-asset cash flows under IAS 7 as amended by IFRS 18, most of the mechanics. What they do not give you is the capstone itself: a full statement built end to end.
Gap to work around: Missing: checklist, the recorded lecture video, the capstone examples, and the PBL scenario and solution posted to LEARN.
14Review, Past exam papers, the strongest practice material in the folder
- Six complete past papers, each with question paper + blank response booklet + sample solution
- Midterm 1: 2024 Canada Snow Removal · 2025 Custom Glass · 2026 MedicAid
- Midterm 2: 2024 Re-Box · 2025 Neurovia/Archer · 2026 Canadian Canoes
- Work them timed at 90 minutes, using only the Guidance Appendix and a calculator
Read the two “with Marker Comments” solutions first. They name exactly what loses marks: restating the guidance without connecting specific case facts; analysing something the question excluded; concluding a treatment applies and then not writing the journal entry; and producing a full balance sheet when only two balances were asked for.
Gap to work around: No past final exam exists, verified tree-wide. No past paper tests Weeks 10–13.
Full inventoryEvery file, and what to do with it
Filter and search all 264 files. “Archive” means a superseded draft, usually a v1/v2/v3 study document replaced by a V4, or an unannotated lecture deck replaced by the annotated one. Check the note before deleting anything: a few superseded drafts still hold unique content.
