How solid is each claim, actually

The Kennedy-related claims from this whole thread, sorted by evidentiary weight rather than how dramatically they're told.

Well corroborated

Monroe moved in the Kennedy social circle

Documented acquaintance through Peter Lawford's beach house and party circuit; multiple independent witnesses, contemporaneous photos.

Taken seriously, not proven

A brief affair with JFK

Most historians lean toward "likely" on accumulated circumstantial evidence. Summers himself: "there was an involvement... I come away feeling that is certain", but no document or recording has ever surfaced.

Thin / single-source

An affair with RFK, RFK at her house that night, wiretap recordings

Rests on secondhand accounts (housekeeper, hairdresser) and one investigator's uncorroborated claim about surveillance tapes nobody has produced. The 1982 DA review found no credible evidence placing RFK at the scene.

Rejected by investigators

The Kennedys had her murdered

Even Summers explicitly rejects this. No official review (1962 or 1982) found evidence of foul play.
